'Natty or not?' or not (I choose 'not')

The futility of a constant debate about an extreme minority of people, plus: time to move beyond this protein rule; fat doesn't deserve its bad rap; powerlifting made me a better writer. This is Link Letter 156!

Pre-order the book here!

After just over three months, one birth, one holiday season, and one devastating climate-change-driven fire that briefly drove us from our home, we are back! And returning to our regularly scheduled programming. I hope you did not miss my timely commentary too much in the interim. If you did, and are frankly a bit miffed, I can’t say enough how much I appreciate your patience.

Furthermore, now that we are only a scant one month from the launch of A Physical Education (coming May 6 to wherever books are sold!), the book-updates newsletter will start to get good. If you are not already subscribed to it, you can log on to the She’s A Beast website, click ‘Account’ in the top right corner, click ‘Manage’ next to 'Email Preferences', and flip the switch that says 'A Physical Education Book News'. To come:

  • A Physical Education 2010s Nostalgia playlist
  • A Physical Education: The Photo Album, including real photos mentioned in the text of the book (some contentious ones, too!)
  • Excerpts
  • Event dates
  • A Physical Education (Casey’s Version)[Deluxe], presented with four different collectible covers, exclusively at Walmart (just kidding, merry April Fool’s week)

And more!

If you haven’t been subscribed to the book newsletter, you would have missed that we’ve already announced a launch event in LA (Skylight Books, Tuesday May 6 with Amanda Montell) and another in NYC (The Strand, Friday May 9 with Roxane Gay, tickets here). Maybe I will tell you more here in the future, but maybe not, otherwise what would be the point of a dedicated book newsletter?

Now, what did I/you/we miss while I was gone?...
